1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Some sites also use "local storage", which works in a similar way. In this policy, "cookies" means both.
2. Your choice
When you first visit, the banner offers three buttons: Choose cookies, Essential only and Accept all.
Essential only: we only use the cookies the site needs to work. Accept all: we also use the optional tools in the table below, for analytics, error reports, heatmaps and session recordings, and advertising measurement. Choose cookies: you pick which optional groups to allow. The groups are Essential, always on, Analytics & diagnostics, and Marketing.
Until you choose, no optional tools load. Signing in doesn't count as a choice. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you switch to Essential only, the page reloads so the optional tools stop. Data already sent to a provider can't be called back, but you can ask that provider to delete it.
3. The cookies and tools we use
Essential cookies are always on. Optional tools load only with Accept all, or if you switch that group on in Choose cookies.
Providers' own policies explain how they use the data: Google (policies.google.com), LinkedIn (linkedin.com/legal/cookie-policy), Microsoft (privacy.microsoft.com) and PostHog (posthog.com/privacy).

4. Affiliate links
If you create an account after arriving through an approved affiliate link, the affiliate code is saved with your account. That's how the right affiliate is credited. It's not an advertising cookie. Before you make a cookie choice, nothing about the link is saved in your browser. The last valid affiliate link you used before signing up gets the credit, and later links don't change it. Invalid or expired codes are ignored.
