Sponsorship & global hiring reality
The sections below summarise common routes and employer patterns. Always confirm eligibility, salary floors, and programme codes on official government sites before you act.
Sponsorship pathways in Australia
The Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) is a common employer-sponsored route for new applications; it replaced the Temporary Skill Shortage visa on 7 December 2024. A business nominates a role and the applicant must meet the current stream, skills, English and employment requirements.
Some trades and professions also need a skills assessment. Approved sponsors must keep meeting their obligations.
Some streams can later lead toward employer-nominated permanent residence. That depends on occupation, salary, English, age, and current rules.
