Check the employer and job offer
An AEWV needs an accredited employer and an approved job check. Accreditation alone does not approve your visa.
Check your evidence
Check the current experience, qualification, English and professional registration requirements for your role. A similar job title is not proof.
Read the work conditions
Confirm pay, hours and location in writing. Check your visa conditions before starting work or changing employer. Do not pay for a job offer.
Check residence separately
Green List Tier 1 and Tier 2 have different residence routes. Check the listed role, qualifications, registration, pay and any required work period. An AEWV does not grant residence automatically.
Check each family member’s options
Family visa options depend on your job, earnings and circumstances. Your partner and children need their own visas. Check your partner’s work rights rather than assuming they can work.
Plan the practical move
Compare housing and travel costs near the workplace. Ask what the employer will pay for. Keep a budget for temporary accommodation and trips home.
Keep your research current
Check the pay and occupation rules for the specific visa with Immigration New Zealand. Work and residence criteria differ.
